Each year, an exciting engineering challenge is presented in the form of a game. Students, with guidance from their teachers and/or mentors, build innovative robots and compete year-round in a variety of matches. In addition to learning valuable engineering skills, students gain life skills such as teamwork, perseverance, communication, collaboration, project management, and critical thinking. The VEX Robotics Competition prepares students to become future innovators with 95% of participants reporting an increased interest in STEM subject areas and pursuing STEM related careers.

In the VEX Robotics Competition, teams worldwide compete in local tournaments to qualify for the World Championships. They design, build, and program one robot each to play a robotics game, which changes each year (but usually played on a 12'-12' field with 4 teams, paired into a red alliance and a blue alliance, in matches which are 2 minutes long). If a team is on the winning alliance of the state tournament, or is given the Excellence Award for being the overall best team, they qualify for the VEX World Championships and can compete with teams from many other nations in a huge tournament.
Visit Robot Events to register a team and find an event near you. Local VRC events are held in many different cities, states and countries. Events are held often and more are being added frequently. Teams register for the VRC and get their official VEX Team Identification Number and Team Welcome Kit from Robot Events, then build robots and compete at events. |

The VEX IQ Challenge, also presented by the Robotics Education & Competition Foundation, provides elementary and middle school students with exciting, open-ended robotics and research challenges that engage students and enhance their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills through hands-on, student-centered learning.
The VEX IQ Challenge fosters student development of the teamwork, collaboration, critical thinking, project management, and communication skills required to prepare them to become the next generation of innovators and problem solvers in our global society. |
In Puerto Rico, the local EVENT PARTNER is the
Puerto Rico Institute Of Robotics (PRIOR). The Puerto Rico Institute of Robotics (PRIOR) is a non-profit organization in alliance with NASA, Universities, P.R. Government and Industry with the following mission and Goals: |
|
Mision: PRIOR’s mission is to prepare and inspire Puerto Rican students to finish the K-12 schooling and continue careers related to Science, Technologies, Engineering, and Math (STEM).
Vision: PRIOR is an educational/inspirational organization that supports the preparation of the engineers and scientist of the future to improve the position of Puerto Rico in STEM related fields.
